Topic: Jesus’ Final Words and Ascension
Scripture: Luke 241:44 – 53
Key Verse: “He told them; ‘This is what is written: the Messiah will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, and repentance for forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.'” Luke 24:46-47. NIV
Last words, as the old saying goes, are words that last. The last statementsof an important individual prior to his departure are considered essentially significant. Christianspay attention to statements Jesus made before His ascension into heaven.
As Jesus prepares to ascend to heaven, for forty days after His post-resurrection appearances, He opened the understanding of His disciples towards the Scriptures to understand the fulfilment of the things written concerning Him in the Old Testament – the law which are the five books of Moses, the Prophets which are the prophetic and historical books written by prophets, and the Psalms and other writings. Jesus instructs them about the mission. He is assigning them – the task of bearing witness to. His death and resurrection, and preaching the Gospel in His name in all nations.
God placed you here to fulfil Jesus’ last words by preaching the Gospel and reaching the unreached for Christ. When was the last time you told someone about Jesus? If you fail to share the Gospel with the unsaved, how will they know Christ? Tell someone about Jesus today.
RBT Passage: Leviticus 5 – 7.
Insight: “Go, preach the Gospel and reproduce disciples for Christ.”
Prayer: O LORD our Father, we receive the infilling of the Holy Spirit and power to be effective witnesses for You today and always; we pray in Jesus Mighty Name. Shalom!
